Running back Boston Scott, who spent six seasons primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles, announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, via a statement on his social media accounts.[1]
Scott, listed at 5-foot-6 and born October 27, 1993, played college football at Louisiana Tech University before the Eagles selected him in the sixth round, 204th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft.[2][3]
Over his career, Scott appeared in 75 games with 12 starts, rushing for 1,295 yards on 265 carries with five touchdowns. He also recorded 51 receptions for 370 yards and one touchdown.[2]
Scott earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for strong performances against NFC East rival New York Giants, including two rushing touchdowns in Philadelphia's 31-15 wild-card playoff victory on January 11, 2021.[2][4]
His last regular-season game came on January 7, 2024, a 27-10 Eagles win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Scott rushed eight times for 67 yards.[2]
In 2024, Scott joined the Los Angeles Rams practice squad in August before being released in September, then signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad in October without appearing in any regular-season games.[2][3]
During Super Bowl LVII on February 12, 2023, Scott had three carries for 16 yards as the Eagles fell 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs.[2]
In his retirement statement, Scott reflected on his journey from a college walk-on to the NFL, expressing gratitude to coaches, teammates and family while noting mixed emotions including joy and bitterness.[1]
Off the field, Scott joined esports organization Dignitas as a content creator in 2023.[5]
